F&Z Solutions develops technology for the exploration of aquatic environments that can be used in connection with education, monitoring or research.

We make data collection scalable and accessible with a portable drone specifically developed for sampling and measurement of water bodies. We reduce the cost per sample and increase the quality of the samples. The USV is a modular platform that can be used with sensors measuring temperature, oxygen, biomass and reflectance on the surface of the water. In addition, it can be used to collect samples of phytoplankton, zooplankton and microplastics with a net. We are also developing the ability to take unfiltered water samples from the surface of a specified volume.

By using a USV that is user-friendly and relatively cheap for the customer, data can be collected regularly without the need for a boat, assistance from engineers, or more costly platforms. The USV provides the opportunity for precise control of sampling thanks to the autopilot function, which allows researchers to take repeated samples from exactly the same place. This allows researchers to work on other tasks while the USV is busy sampling, making fieldwork more efficient. The quality of data is increased with the USV due to reduced noise, light and pollution that the boat entails, and the process can be scaled by using several small USVs simultaneously, which is impossible with a boat or larger platforms.
