Birdsview raises 40.5 MNOK to see inside concrete

Birdsview has closed a funding round of EUR 3.7 million, around 40.5 MNOK, to scale Birdsview Concrete commercially, industrially and internationally.
The company builds what has been described as an MRI for concrete. Instead of drilling to find out where the rebar sits inside a structure, engineers scan it and get precise data back without damaging anything. That matters because a growing share of construction work in Europe is not new building but rehabilitation and maintenance of roads, bridges, tunnels and quays, where nobody knows exactly what is inside the concrete they are about to cut into.
Who is behind the round
The round brings together a Nordic investor consortium: Sarsia, Butterfly Ventures, Proptechfonden, Kiilto Ventures, Nordic Makers and Momentum. Existing investors also doubled down.
The money goes into growing the commercial team, scaling production and expanding into new markets.
Nine countries in five months
Birdsview Concrete opened for pre-sale in March 2026. Since then, customers in nine countries have signed up, which suggests the problem travels well beyond Norway.
Sweco was the first company in Norway to adopt it, a decision that traces back to 2023 when they helped develop the technology by offering up real projects and site surveys. On a recent job, Sweco was asked to scan a quay before cutting new openings into several of its beams. Drawings existed, but not exact rebar positions, and the concrete cover was unusually deep for a quay structure, too deep for their other equipment to verify placement before drilling.
“There’s a real need for it,” says Kristian Svela Øglænd at Sweco, pointing to the backlog of rehabilitation work and rising demands around sustainability and safety.
Also picked for Free Electrons
Alongside the round, Birdsview has been selected as one of 15 startups worldwide for Free Electrons, the global accelerator backed by leading energy utilities. Over the coming months the team will work with some of the world’s largest utilities to adapt the technology for the energy sector, where dams, power plants and substations sit on long retrofitting backlogs and need to demonstrate structural integrity without being taken out of service.
